About Braden
Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Braden O'Grady grew up as a multi-sport athlete, competing at a high level in hockey and lacrosse before golf took centre stage. His competitive golf journey began in July 2017 at the Alberta Junior Championship, his first major junior event. From there, his rise was rapid: junior titles, Order of Merit honours, and selections to represent both Alberta and Canada in international team competition.
In 2021, Braden captured the Alberta Men's Amateur Championship and earned Low Amateur honours at the Alberta Open, establishing himself as one of the top amateur players in the province. That success carried him to Virginia Commonwealth University, where he built an outstanding NCAA Division I career.
At VCU, Braden was a leader on and off the course. He served as Golf Team Captain for the 2025–2026 season and represented the program on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honours in 2025, won the 2024 Island Resort Collegiate, and posted multiple top-10 finishes against strong national fields. His commitment in the classroom matched his performance on the course. He was named to the 2024–2025 Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, was recognized as VCU Student Athlete of the Month in December 2025, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Business Management.
Since returning home, Braden has continued to compete at the highest amateur level, winning the 2026 Edmonton Amateur and finishing T23 at the Canadian Men's Amateur.
Braden is the only child of a high school teacher and a pharmaceutical professional, both of whom have supported his athletic journey from the start. Away from competition, he spends his winters on the ski hill and is an avid fan of hockey, college football, and professional golf.
